How To Remix on Instagram Reel?

The remix reels on Instagram feature is similar to the duet TikTok feature. IG is expanding the remix tools to improve how you collaborate with your favorite creators and friends to tell stories on Instagram. First, you cannot use this feature on the desktop, so only mobile handsets can remix Instagram reels. Also, only the public accounts have the option to enable or disable the remix feature. As a private account, you can remix the reels posted by a public account (only if they have enabled the remix feature for their reels). By default, the remix option is turned on the reels. You can follow the steps below to remix the reels or collaborate with your favorite creators on IG. 

  • Open the Instagram app and find the reel you want to remix with.
  • Now, open the reel and tap on the three dots at the bottom right corner.
  • Tap on the remix, and choose where you would like your clip. With the original video or After the original video.

If you select ‘With original video,’ you can record your reaction side-by-side. And if you choose After original video,’ you can record your reaction after the reel is ended.

  • After you have selected your option, you have to record your reaction.
  • Here, you can add effects, captions, music, voice-over, text, etc.
  • Once you are happy with the editing, tap Next.

How To Disable And Enable the Remix For Instagram Reels?

As mentioned above, the feature to remix a reel on Instagram is turned on by default, but you can still turn it off if you feel unsafe about people using your content. However, the turn-off feature is unavailable for every public account holder. Here’s how you can turn off and on the Instagram remix reels feature.

  • Go to your profile on Instagram and click on the Hamburger at the top right corner.
  • Now go to settings and then tap on privacy.
  • Tap on Reels and remixes.
  • Toggle off Allow for reels and Allow for feed videos.
  • To enable, follow the steps and toggle on the required options.

To enable remixes for older videos or reels posted before the remix feature, you need to manually turn on remixing for each post. First, open a previous revolution and select the three-dot option. This will cause a pop-up menu to appear at the bottom. Next, choose ‘Enable Remixing’ for that specific reel from the menu. For the other older reels, use the same procedure.
